Prerequisites:
Students must have a weighted, cumulative GPA of 3.75 in order to be admitted to National Honor Society.
Additionally, students will be required to submit an application. This application will feature teacher recommendations, as well as a place for students to identify their involvement and activities.

While a Member:
- Attend monthly meetings and the Induction/Cording Ceremony in May. Missing more than 2 meetings will result in expulsion from the society.
- You must complete 20 hours of community service. 15 MUST be from NHS-Sponsored activities. 5 can be from outside sources, or may be overlap from other honor societies.
- TUTORING HOURS sanctioned by NHS or the HRHS Counseling Office may count towards NHS requirements.
- Attend one social event
- Hold a leadership role within or outside of National Honor Society by the end of your senior year
- Pay the $30 dues each year you participate in NHS
- ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE DUE BY APRIL 28, 2016 FOR SENIORS AND MAY 12, 2016 FOR JUNIORS!!!
Probation and Dismissal
You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. We will only use end-of-semester grades to determine membership status. If you are a junior and your GPA falls below 3.75 after first semester, you will be put on probation. If it doesn't raise by the end of second semester, you will be dismissed from NHS. If you are a senior and your GPA falls below 3.75, you will be dismissed.
Members may only miss two meetings. After one meeting, the member will receive a warning and be put on probation. If the member misses two meetings, he/she will be dismissed from National Honor Society.

- Dismissed members may request a hearing from one of two boards. See "Appeals Board" below.
- Once a student has been dismissed from a National Honor Society chapter, they cannot join any NHS chapter.

Students will receive notification of probation and/or warnings. Dismissals will also be sent if necessary.
If a student is dismissed from NHS for any reason, there is an appeals board for extenuating circumstances only. Members will be able to bid for reentry to one of two boards:

- Officer and Advisor Board - 5 members (Leadership team plus the two advisors)
- Advisor Board - 3 members (Two advisors and an administrator)
